Zair Tromp's baseball journey has reached a new milestone: a contract with the Tampa Bay Rays.

The story began in Aruba with a three-year-old discovering the game and grew through years of training, sacrifice and determination. For Tromp, signing represents both an achievement and the beginning of a new chapter.

A childhood dream takes shape

Tromp began playing baseball with Marlins team when he was only three years old. He was among the youngest players, but the ambition was already there.

Zair wanted to follow the example of his older brother Zarik, who also plays baseball and continues his education at Voorhees University in South Carolina. That family connection helped give his own dream a direction from an early age.

His path through local baseball continued with Giants Organization and Aruba Tigers organization before he played for Sluggers. Each stop became part of the foundation for the opportunities that followed.

Developing his pitching in Aruba

Tromp also worked on his game through academy training on the island. The journey time at ABA with Aaron Ballesteros, followed by development with Wally Vrolijk and Antoine Kelly at Ant1 Academy.

Those experiences helped him develop his talent, particularly his pitching, as he continued working toward a future in baseball.

The story describes a young player willing to work hard, persist through challenges and keep believing in his goal.

The next step, Dominican Republic!

An important stage of Tromp's development took him to Santo Domingo, where he joined the Star League academy. There, he continued training and working to make the most of the opportunity in front of him.

The signing with Tampa Bay Rays organization marks the next step in that journey—from local teams and academy sessions in Aruba to the chance to continue developing within a professional organization.

A milestone shared with family and supporters

The story also recognizes the role of Tromp's family and the people who supported him along the way. His achievement reflects not only his own work but the encouragement of those who believed in his dream.

A professional contract opens a new door, while bringing new demands and more work ahead. The qualities highlighted throughout his story—humility, discipline and perseverance—remain just as important as he takes that next step.

Baseball Aruba congratulates Zair Tromp and everyone who has helped him along his baseball journey. The dream began in Aruba; now a new chapter is ready to be written.
