LOS ANGELES — Aruba’s Antwone Kelly stepped onto one of baseball’s biggest stages Saturday night, pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.
Kelly entered in the bottom of the eighth inning with Pittsburgh trailing 4-3 and delivered a scoreless inning, keeping the Pirates within one run.
The Aruba right-hander finished his appearance with an impressive line:
1.0 IP | 0 H | 0 R | 0 ER | 0 BB | 1 K
One of the highlights of the inning came when Kelly went head-to-head with Shohei Ohtani, giving the Aruban pitcher an opportunity to face one of the biggest stars in Major League Baseball.
Kelly completed the inning without allowing a hit or a walk as he continued to gain valuable experience at the Major League level.
The Pirates were unable to complete the comeback, however, as the Dodgers held on for a 4-3 victory.
For Kelly, it was another strong appearance and another memorable moment for Aruba baseball — this time under the lights at Dodger Stadium.
